Eight years ago I decided to seek election to the office of Bingham County Clerk
after working for 28 years in the legal field, primarily in the Prosecutor’s Office. I
felt that I was uniquely qualified for the varied responsibilities of the office and I
have enjoyed and loved this work from the day I took the oath of office.
I came into this position with a background in office management, accounting (both government and business) legal writing and research, a knowledge of the county indigent program, experience as a Deputy Clerk assigned to the Board of County Commissioners, and a strong real estate background that has served me well in handling recording and records retention issues. My legal experience has been invaluable to me as I worked with the Idaho Association of County Recorders and Clerks on legislative issues.
The office of County Clerk, which is officially titled Clerk of the District Court, ex- offio Auditor and Recorder, has a challenging mixture of responsibilities. The Clerk provides support to the Courts, prepares the budget for Commissioner approval, tracts all revenue and expenditures of all departments in the County, administers the payroll, serves as recorder and keeper of the County’s historical records, serves as Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners which includes accepting and investigating applications for indigent services as well as keeping minutes and records of actions by the Board. The Clerk is also the Chief Elections Officer and is responsible for the conduct of all local, State, and Federal elections in the County.
To carry out these duties, in addition to the Clerk, there are 32 deputy clerks on staff. I am fortunate to have the talented, hard working and dedicated staff that I do.
I am seeking a third term as the County Clerk because not only do I enjoy the work and the people I work with, but over the years the knowledge I have gained and put into practice has been beneficial in the smooth running of the County. I pledge to continually work hard for the good of Bingham County and to serve our residents in an efficient and economical manner. I will continue to update technological and procedural practices to meet these goals.
Thank you for your trust in allowing me to serve these past two terms as your Clerk and I would appreciate your Vote on May 25 so that I can continue to serve you.
